Dr. Roger C. Swint was born in 1875-12-26, in Washington County. His parents were Moses T. Swint, a Georgia native and Confederate veteran, and Elmira Cook Swint, who was born in Alabama. He graduated from Hephzibah High School in Richmond County, and then attended Mercer University. He studied medicine under Dr. William Rawlings for one year and then studied medicine at the University of Georgia. He graduated second in his class in 1898. He arrived at Georgia State Sanitarium as an intern. He then became the assistant physician, which he served as for 14 years, and then for 5 years served as clinical director. In 1923-01, he was elected to the position of superintendent. In 1934, he was dismissed by Governor Eugene Talmadge.
